I really am Built for Breedin'

We had an ultrasound today and WOW- Baby A is 5 lbs. 9 0z. and Baby B is 6 lbs. 4 oz. Baby A may actually be a little bigger like closer to 6 lbs. 2 oz., but his head is so wedged into my hip that they can't get a good measurement of it. That means they grew over a pound in 2 weeks!!!!! If they keep this rate of growth up and I somehow went the full 40 weeks we would be looking at 10 pounders. The Docs seem genuinely amazed at how well I am doing and how great the babies are growing. As my husband loves to say I'm "built for breedin".
I told the Docs I really don't want to be the lady on the news with the 10 pound twins, they all laughed, but no one said don't worry that won't happen, I would have settled for a simple that's unlikely...but no, just uncomfortable laughter...
As for my health all is good, the hobbit foot and numb toes were most likely a baby on a nerve and nothing to worry about. It hasn't happened since last week. I finally hit the 30 pound weight gain mark and with the size of these boys no one is yelling at me to gain more-yippee. I'm hoping they are tapping into my reserves- preferably the ones in my upper arms and my ass!!!!! Hey maybe twins will be the key to the svelte figure I have always wanted.
As for the girls they are still fighting this nasty virus thing, but slowly getting better. I hope to get some new pictures of them soon- spice this blog up with a few booger faced & pale little ones.

Land of the Sick and Tired

Sophia has been sick since Monday- We thought she was better, then fever was back Friday. Abby has continued to get more and more snotty as the days go on and woke up with a pretty good cough this morning. And Rich- yeah Rich, the guy that never gets sick, is a mess (but he still managed to make it to soccer this morning-"needs to sweat it out"). I'm sure it is because he was sleeping with Sophia earlier in the week when her breathing was really bad, so he was coughed and snotted on for hours on end. He and Sophia have slept in our bed the last 2 nights and I have slept in Sophia's bed, which is surprisingly comfortable and supportive for pregnant hips. But I have not slept well with the chorus of sniffs, sneezes, coughs and other unpleasant sounds that fill my house at night. I plan to try and disinfect today, the last thing I need is to be sneezing and coughing in my current state -you have seen the belly...now imagine it bouncing with a sneeze or cough...now imagine where it lands-the bladder...enough said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doctor Appointment and Hobbit Foot

I had and appointment yesterday and all was good. I'm almost 35 weeks pregnant now, which basically means if I go into labor they won't try to stop it. They ultimately would like me to make it to 37 or 38 weeks. Yeah I know that is like 2 weeks away- Holy Crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not sure what is more frightening looking at my belly pics or realizing these little boys will be here soon!!!!!!!!

As for the Hobbit foot... I have been super lucky and really haven't had swelling of my feet or hands yet in this pregnancy -until last night. For some reason my right foot and only my right foot, not ankle or calf, swelled up and looked like a Hobbit foot from the Lord of the Rings movies. It went down during the night, but is starting to grow as the day goes on. It is strange to walk around on one big fat foot, it makes me even more unbalanced. Luckily it isn't painful, just strange feeling.

The girls are doing well, getting over a nasty virus. Abby only had a little head cold kind of thing, but poor Soph got it bad-high fever, nasty cough/wheezing she had to go on steroids for 2 days and use the nebulizer(sp). They are feeling better, but still not themselves yet. Hopefully by the weekend they will be back in action! Although selfishly, low key and lots of naps isn't so bad for me these days.

Belly update at 34 weeks

My apologies to those of you that just don't want or need to see this! But I have many fans of the belly and requests for belly shots. I'm sure someday I will actually want to look back at these.
There is quite a difference in 2 weeks - it seems to grow by the day (and stretch, as you can see my lovely stretch marks). It is amazing and gross all at the same time.

Peace Sister to Pirate -ARGHHH!!!!!!!!!

In defense of STRANGE

I have been asked by many of you to rethink the word strange in my description of Abby...Well I'm not going to, but I do feel the need to defend it.
Let's first start with the opposite of strange...
Normal
1. conforming to the standard or the common type; usual; not abnormal; regular
2. relating to or characterized by average intelligence or development
Synonyms for normal: average, common, expected, conventional, ordinary, regular, routine, typical, usual

Snore-ZZZZZ Oh excuse me I fell asleep from the boredom of normalcy

Strange
1. out of the ordinary; unusual or striking
2. differing from the normal
Some synonyms for strange: unique, unparalleled, quaint, outlandish, singular, eccentric, curious
Wow, now that is a person I want to meet!

I hope you understand my point..I don't think of strange as a negative thing. I think it is pretty cool that both of my girls are very unique and like no other person I have ever met. I'm proud that they aren't afraid or uncomfortable being weird, wacky and yes, strange. I plan on fostering that confidence as much as possible. And as I see it, I will surely F them up in much worse ways than calling them "adorably strange"!!!!

And for the record, as I type this Abby is pretending to be a "kitty-puppy" crawling around on the floor alternating meows and woofs as she licks the couch!!! A behavior I can only describe as strange...

The Boys are Getting BIG

I had an ultrasound and the boys look great! Baby A is 4lbs 5oz and Baby B is 4lbs 7oz. They grew almost a half a pound in two weeks. The most amazing thing is that we could see they both have hair- Ultrasound is so cool! No good pictures this time around because they are pretty squished in there, but they look good and healthy. They meet or exceed all the measurements and movements that are checked for and they are both in the 60th percentile for size (and that's for a singleton baby). Now if we could get my ribs and hips to cooperate with my ever expanding uterus things would be a little easier. As for my appointment, I'm looking good too, just like the boys I'm hairy, squished and much larger than expected.

The Belly (Warning- viewing photos may cause sleep loss, nightmares, hysterical blindness)

Wow- these picture are from about 2 weeks ago and I was 31 weeks pregnant - Yes that means I could actually be pregnant for another 9 weeks (the Doc probably won't let me go that long). At the time of pictures the boys were 3 lbs 9oz and 3lbs 12oz. It is actually amazing how much the belly has grown in 2 weeks. I don't really think my skin or my ribs can go much more, but the human body is quite amazing. If only it could spring back into shape as easily as it stretches!!!

The Stars of Our Show

Sophia - one of the coolest kids ever, smart, witty, wise-ass, loving and excited by everything. She will be 4 next month and going to preschool in the fall. If only she could blog- we would see into a very interesting mind.

Abby-an adorably strange little person who has finally decided to talk. She is 20 months old, very determined, strong-willed, cuddly, funny and learning many things from her big sister.
